Purpose

Assist in the overall development, implementation, and execution of Scotiabank’s US Risk and Compliance training and education programs (the “Programs”) to include data analysis, scheduling, tracking and reporting associated with the Programs. The Programs include the U.S. Compliance Training and Education Programs, the SBUS Risk Management Training and Education Programs, and BSA/AML and OFAC Training and Education Programs. In this role, the Analyst will be required to coordinate with a diverse group of personnel to assist in timely execution and tracking for each of the Programs, assist in developing annual training and education plans through research, and ensure the successful execution of those training and education plans in an efficient and timely manner. Inherent responsibilities include assisting with content formatting, coordinating delivery, and tracking execution/attendance. In this capacity, the Analyst will also be required to prepare metrics reporting for the Department Head, manage surveys and assist with identification of non-compliance individuals.

Accountabilities

  • Track the attendance of training and education completed via email confirmations, learning management system reporting and other methodologies. Needs include: data accumulation and analysis, assessment of anomalies in large data sets, management of training sessions.
  • Assist in preparation of presentations to senior management and regulators for review by Head of Training.
  • Assist in the management of training process including scheduling/recording of training sessions and distribution of training material.
  • Maintain a library of content associated with all training developed/delivered.
  • Handle administrative updates related to training issues and reporting.
  • Work on special projects assigned by the Head of Training.
  • Prepare visual metrics based on Excel data from various sources. Power BI Experience a plus.
  • Organize and collate training documentation for team review which will ultimately be utilized in testing/audit/regulatory examinations.
  • Schedule training needs assessment interviews with line of business senior management and compliance officer, ensuring to document meeting minutes.
  • Assist with training content formatting and reviews to ensure consistency across Risk Management, Compliance and AML/Sanctions.

Dimensions

The Analyst, U.S. Compliance and Risk Training and Education Department, works as part of a broader U.S. Compliance and Risk training team to execute on the requirements of the SBUS BSA/AML and OFAC Training and Communication Policy and Procedures, the SBUS Risk Management Education Policy, and the U.S. Compliance Training Policy and Procedures. The Analyst must be efficient, organized, and have strong analytical skills to determine anomalies in large sets of data. This person is also responsible for data review and manipulation into various reporting metrics.

Education / Experience

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, education, or data science related field.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of data management experience.
  • Very strong communication, analytical, organization, and planning skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products, including:
    • Advanced Excel skills (at minimum, ability to use pivot tables, pivot chart, VLOOKUP and similar functions with ease for daily activities, including generation of reporting metrics).
    • Expert PowerPoint skills, including ability to generate effective visual and written content to strengthen knowledge retention.
